A Modified Methyl Transferase Cofactor to Selectively Silence Gene Expression in Escherichia coli

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
Graphical abstract and table of contents entry A modified methyl transferase cofactor, containing AdoHcy azide, creates a specific single‐site molecular switch near a promoter, on plasmid DNA, preventing the expression of a single gene at the designated site, not observed with other modifications.

A Label-Free Droplet Sorting Platform Integrating Dielectrophoretic Separation for Estimating Bacterial Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesBiosensors
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has become a crucial global health issue. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria can survive after antibiotic treatments, lowering drug efficacy and increasing lethal risks.

The CebE/MsiK transporter is a doorway to the cello-oligosaccharide-mediated induction of Streptomyces scabies pathogenicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Streptomyces scabies is an economically important plant pathogen well-known for damaging root and tuber crops by causing scab lesions. Thaxtomin A is the main causative agent responsible for the pathogenicity of S.

Engineered Stable, Antibiotic‐Free, High‐Level Protein Expression in the Probiotic Chassis Escherichia coli Nissle 1917

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, Volume 123, Issue 3, Page 776-784, March 2026.
The probiotic E. coli Nissle 1917 was engineered to enable stable and antibiotic free protein expression platforms using native plasmids. Further modification aids in the production of high‐level protein expression for antimicrobial secretion whose activity is comparable to industry standard E. coli BL21.

Emergence of Third-Generation Cephalosporin-Resistant Morganella morganii in a Captive Breeding Dolphin in South Korea

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
The emergence of antimicrobial resistant (AMR) strains of Morganella morganii is increasingly being recognized. Recently, we reported a fatal M. morganii infection in a captive bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) bred at a dolphinarium in South Korea.

Airborne Passive Microwave Retrievals of Cloud Liquid Water, Total Precipitable Water, and Near‐Surface Wind Speed in the Maritime Tropics

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract This paper describes improvements to geophysical retrievals from NASA's Advanced Microwave Precipitation Radiometer (AMPR) during the Cloud, Aerosol and Monsoon Processes Philippines Experiment (CAMP2Ex). The retrieved products are validated using independent data sets, and example applications in addressing science questions about the ...

Antibiotic Administration Routes and Oral Exposure to Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria as Key Drivers for Gut Microbiota Disruption and Resistome in Poultry

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Previous studies have identified oral administration of antibiotics and gut-impacting drugs as critical drivers for fecal antibiotic resistance (AR) and microbiome disruption in lab mice, but the practical implications of these findings have yet to be ...

Gauss congruences for rational functions in several variables

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate necessary as well as sufficient conditions under which the Laurent series coefficients $f_{\boldsymbol{n}}$ associated to a multivariate rational function satisfy Gauss congruences, that is $f_{\boldsymbol{m}p^r} \equiv f_{\boldsymbol{m}p^{

Heterogeneity in Surface Sensing Suggests a Division of Labor in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The second messenger signaling molecule cyclic diguanylate monophosphate (c-di-GMP) drives the transition between planktonic and biofilm growth in many bacterial species.
