Knee joint biomechanics in transtibial amputees in gait, cycling, and elliptical training.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Transtibial amputees may experience decreased quality of life due to increased risk of knee joint osteoarthritis (OA). No prior studies have compared knee joint biomechanics for the same group of transtibial amputees in gait, cycling, and elliptical ...

Rehabilitation of the bilateral amputee [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 1987
One hundred sixteen patients with bilateral amputation as a result of severe ischemia were reviewed to evaluate their rehabilitation potential. Seventy patients were male and 46 were female; ages ranged from 31 to 92 years (mean 68 years). The operative mortality rate after the second amputation was 9.5% (11 of 116 patients). The time from the first to

SATISFACTION AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE UNITY SUSPENSION SYSTEM

open access: yesCanadian Prosthetics & Orthotics Journal, 2018
BACKGROUND While elevated vacuum suspension systems have some benefits over the other suspension approaches 1–5, elevated vacuum may not be appropriate for all amputees.

Factors Affecting Surgical Outcomes Following Rotationplasty in Paediatric Sarcoma: A Literature Review

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Rotationplasty is a durable limb‐salvage option for paediatric lower‐limb sarcoma. Across 58 studies and 1,217 patients, long‐term functional, psychosocial, and quality‐of‐life outcomes were favourable, often surpassing amputation and endoprosthetic reconstruction.
