1997 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2002The AM/AM and AM/PM characteristics of a power amplifier are typically measured in a static manner using a CW signal. For communications signals, the amplitude envelope is varying so the distortion is actually occurring dynamically. This paper presents a technique to measure dynamic AM/AM and AM/PM.

No.04EX824), 2005A novel power amplifier's AM/AM and AM/PM characterisation technique is proposed, making use of two-tone test miming a DSB-SC modulated signal. Its main advantage is related to the possibility to extract the amplifier behaviour under operating conditions closer to actual modulated signals.

Dynamic AM-AM and AM-PM Behavior in Microwave PA Circuits
2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings, 2006This paper explains the nonlinear dynamic memory effects observed on both AM-AM and AM-PM conversions of nonlinear microwave power amplifier, PA, circuits. The study is introduced via an analytic Volterra series analysis which is then illustrated with envelope simulations gathered from a GaN HEMT based microwave PA.
