Feeding-Related Skull Structures of Climbing Perch Anabas testudineus (Anabantidae)

Journal of Ichthyology, 2023
The feeding-related skull structures are described and occluding elements of the upper and lower regions of the buccopharyngeal cavity are analyzed in climbing perch. At each side of the neurocranium, the transverse process of the parasphenoid with four or five large conical teeth oppose the hypobranchial 3, and the medial teeth of the parasphenoid ...

Thyroid hormones regulate lipid metabolism in a teleost Anabas testudineus (Bloch)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 1999
We compared the long-term action of 3,5,3'-triiodo-L-thyronine (T3) and 3,5-diiodo-L-thyronine (T2) on lipid metabolism in a teleost Anabas testudineus. Among the six groups of animals used in this experiment, except for the control group, all received 6-propylthiouracil (6-PTU) to create a hypothyroid state in order to analyse the action of ...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Anabas testudineus (Perciformes, Anabantidae)

Mitochondrial DNA Part A, 2014
We present the complete mitochondrial genome of the Anabas testudineus in this study. The mitochondrial genome is 16,603 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a control region. The nucleotide compositions of the light strand are 29.40% of C, 28.63% of A, 25.79% of T, and 16.18% of G.

Terrestrial locomotion characteristics of climbing perch (Anabas testudineus)

Journal of Experimental Biology
ABSTRACT The evolution and utilization of limbs facilitated terrestrial vertebrate movement on land, but little is known about how other lateral structures enhance terrestrial locomotion in amphibian fishes without terrestrialized limb structures. Climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) exhibit sustained terrestrial locomotion using uniaxial

Functions of interleukin-6 in ovulation of female climbing perch, Anabas testudineus

Animal Reproduction Science, 2020
In mammals, interleukin 6 (IL-6) has an important function during ovulation, however, the functions of IL-6 in fish have not been elucidated. In the present study, there was quantification of de novo synthesis of ovarian IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) in control and hCG-treated fish and results were compared with those from an in vitro ...

Some biological aspects of Thai koi Anabas testudineus (Bloch)

2007
A study was conducted from January-May 2007 to know some biological aspects i.e. gonadosomatic index (GSI), gamete sizes (egg diameter and sperm-head length), fecundity, condition factor (CF), relationship of body weight-fecundity and ovary weight-fecundity of Thai koi Anabas testudineus.
