Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.), belonging to the family Anacardiaceae, is an evergreen tree with a dome-shaped canopy which almost touches the ground (Fig. 1A). According to Ohler (1979), there are few trees as beautiful as a tall cashew tree. The stout branches arise very low on the trunk and some of them trail on the ground.
