Antimicrobial Compounds from Anaerobic Microorganisms: A Review of an Untapped Reservoir

open access: yesApplied Microbiology
Anaerobes, the oldest evolutionary life forms, have been unexplored for their potential to produce secondary metabolites due to the difficulties observed in their cultivation.

Anaerobic bacteria in dentoalveolar abscesses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1986
The present study was initiated to determine the bacteriology of 40 orofacial abscesses of dental origin in patients who had taken antibiotics for several days. Bacteria were isolated from all but 2 specimens. Aerobic or facultative anaerobic bacteria were isolated in 21 cases, obligate anaerobic bacteria in 17 cases, whereas in 11 cases, polymicrobial

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

The effects of the combination of bioplastic and its degrading bacteria (Genus Acidovorax) on the metabolic activity of anaerobic bacteria in Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baerii) fingerlings hindgut by using CLPP

open access: yesیافته‌های نوین در علوم زیستی, 2019
Community Level Physiological Profiles (CLPP) is novel method to evaluate microbial activity and diversity in ecosystems. According to the previous findings, poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) as a bio-control product, increases bacterial diversity in some ...

Ankle brachial indices and anaerobes: is peripheral arterial disease associated with anaerobic bacteria in diabetic foot ulcers?

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2022
Background: Lower extremity amputations from diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are rebounding, and new biomarkers that predict wound healing are urgently needed.

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Potential of bacteria in sheep feces as biogas formation starter on lignite coal media

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu-Ilmu Peternakan, 2020
Sheep farms produce waste in the form of feces and urine that are organic materials and the source of bacteria. This study aims to determine the potential of bacteria in sheep feces when used as a starter for biogas formation (the number of anaerobic ...

Multi‐Enzyme Mimetic Molybdenum Nitride Nanozymes Reshape Subgingival Microenvironment for Synergistic Periodontitis Therapy via ROS Regulation and Microbiome Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Periodontitis, a chronic inflammatory disease initiated and sustained by plaque microorganisms and host immune response, remains an intractable oral disease and a leading cause of tooth loss worldwide. Traditional mechanical debridement and adjunctive antibiotic or antiseptic therapy often shows limited efficacy due to the complex anatomical ...

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.
