Objective Lactate is increasingly recognized as an energy substrate, but its relevance to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) remains unclear. We examined whether blood lactate is associated with survival and weight loss in ALS. Methods This retrospective study included an Australian exploratory cohort and a Japanese validation cohort with clinical ...

Effects of different short sprint training volumes using optimal load on maximal anaerobic power
The aims of the present study were to determine whether short maximal pedaling at optimal load (Lopt) improved maximal anaerobic power (MAnP) with changes in force and/or velocity, and if a difference in training volume influenced training outcomes in ...

Objective Cerebral ischemic stroke causes neuronal oxygen/energy deprivation, disrupting mitochondrial function including reduced membrane potential and bioenergetics, exacerbating neuronal injury. Mitochondrial defects are, therefore, a central neuropathological node and potential therapeutic target.

MOFs as New Catalytic Platform for Covalent Adaptable Networks: Catalysis Meets Reinforcement
A novel heterogeneous catalytic platform for covalent adaptable networks (CANs) is introduced by immobilizing bases of low molecular weight on metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs). The obtained catalyst UiO‐TBD benefits from the high loading capacity of the MOF and demonstrates a higher thermal stability relative to free TBD.

Methane Generation Using an Anaerobic Biodigester From Waste Leachate Water
ABSTRACT Leachate wastewater (LWW) is characterized by slow biodegradation and low biogas production due to resistant materials and limited biological activity. Therefore, applying pretreatments is essential to improving biodegradation potential, which consequently boosts energy recovery.
