Flooding tolerance in plants [PDF]
Global warming is associated with an increase in flooding events, making many ecosystems worldwide vulnerable to submergence. Water submersion can severely affect crop production, since it drastically reduces oxygen availability necessary for plants ...

LAG‐3+ regulatory T cells suppress the effector but not the proliferative response of naïve cognate antigen‐specific CD4+ T cells in vivo. The suppressed T cells display upregulation of immune checkpoints and downregulation of pro‐inflammatory pathways with enhanced TCR signaling and reduced oxidative metabolism.

Fruit function beyond dispersal: effect of fruit decomposition on the plant microbiome assembly
Summary The evolutionary role of fruits has primarily been linked to seed dispersal. However, their influence on the soil and plant microbiomes subsequent to their decomposition has received no attention. We hypothesized that fruit decomposition alters the soil microbiome, and consequently the plant microbiome and performance.

Possibility of growth of airborne microbes in the Jovian atmosphere [PDF]
Efforts to show growth activity of anaerobic bacteria in aerosolized particles suspended in anaerobic gas (N2) are described. Evidence of spore generation in nitrogen was obtained.

Abstract EFSA has received a request for a rapid risk assessment for cereulide from the European Commission. Cereulide is a heat‐stable emetic toxin produced by Bacillus cereus, recently detected in infant formulae from multiple manufacturers. This led to precautionary recalls across several countries.

Evaluation of Near Isogenic Lines (NILs) of rice for major abiotic stresses of coastal areas
Rice crop in coastal areas is very often subjected to major abiotic stresses like submergence, lodging of the crop caused by heavy rains or cyclones and salinity.

Applications of submerged fermentation for biodegradation and decolourisation of melanoidins by an isolate Alcaligenes denitrificans SAG5 [PDF]
In laboratory conditions a bacterium was isolated, which was identified as Alcaligenes denitrificans SAG5.. The optimum decolourisation (72.6%) of melanoidin was achieved at pH 7.5 and temperature 37 °C within 4-6 days fermentation.

Anaerobic digestion as a tool to eliminate animal parasites and weed seeds [PDF]
Anaerobic digestion of residual materials from animals and crops offers an opportunity to simultaneously produce bioenergy and plant fertilizers at single farms and in farm communities where input substrate materials and resulting digested residues are ...
