Aging and periodontitis increase brain dissemination of oral bacteria

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The microbiome is a dynamic system that changes throughout life. Studies have revealed the relationship between periodontal disease and the oral microbiota; however, the impact of periodontal disease on the expression of senescence markers and on the inflammaging of the oral and systemic microbiome remains unclear.

Betaine‐, xylitol‐, and extra virgin olive oil–based toothpaste modulates inflammation and oral nitric oxide pathway: Clinical trial in gingivitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Gingivitis is a prevalent and reversible inflammatory condition driven by microbial dysbiosis. Beyond plaque control, interest has grown in oral hygiene formulations capable of modulating inflammation while preserving key microbial functions. Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), together with xylitol and betaine, has demonstrated clinical

Impact of abrasive versus non‐abrasive cleaning on peri‐implantitis titanium release: A randomized clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Surface decontamination is integral to peri‐implantitis treatment. However, abrasive mechanical methods can cause implant surface degradation with possible adverse biological effects. No human studies have examined whether these treatments cause titanium release or impair regenerative outcomes.

Zinc‐stabilized stannous fluoride modulates the periodontal microbiome, reducing Fusobacteria, key Gram‐negative species, and overall inflammation within an experimental gingivitis clinical trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a dentifrice containing stannous fluoride stabilized with zinc phosphate on subgingival microbiome composition and clinical inflammation during experimental gingivitis, compared with a sodium fluoride control. Methods This investigation was conducted as a secondary analysis of a randomized,

Surfactant Enhanced Bioremediation of Saline Diesel Contaminated Water by a Novel Bacterial Halophilic Consortium

open access: yesJournal of Surfactants and Detergents, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of microorganisms is an evolving method for the degradation of hydrocarbon contaminants. In this aim, halophilic hydrocarbon degrading bacteria were isolated from oil contaminated soil in Tunisia. A lipopeptide biosurfactant produced by Bacillus subtilis SPB1 was tested to increase diesel biodegradation along with co‐inoculation with ...

Comprehensive elucidation of volatile, phenolic, and organic acid profiles in Turkish mallow (Malva sylvestris L.) petal herbal tea: impact of diverse brewing conditions

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Mallow (Malva sylvestris L.) petals are traditionally consumed as herbal tea across the Mediterranean for their soothing and anti‐inflammatory properties; however, scientific characterization of this consumption‐relevant matrix under realistic brewing conditions remains scarce.

Transoral Ultrasound in the Diagnostic Workup of Peritonsillar Abscess—A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Peritonsillar abscess frequently mimics peritonsillar cellulitis, exposing many patients to unnecessary and often painful blind needle aspirations. In this multicenter randomized clinical trial of 95 patients, adding transoral ultrasound to standard examination reduced needle aspiration attempts by nearly one third.
