Anaerobic and aerobic power of top athletes
European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1981In this study the alactic anaerobic and aerobic power of top level sprinters, long-distance runners, and untrained students were compared. Maximal oxygen uptake was measured during the progressive test on a treadmill. The anaerobic power was estimated according to a newly developed bicycle ergometer technique.

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 1985Thirty-three untrained subjects of both sexes, 18-31 years of age, performed several tests on cycle ergometers. Maximal aerobic power (MAP) was obtained in a progressive work test. Maximal aerobic capacity (MAC) was measured in a 90-min maximal test and was computed as the total work output during that period.
