PDHA1 Hyperactivation‐Mediated Glucose Metabolism Reprogramming Fuels Neutrophil NETosis and Promotes Acute Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During NETosis, neutrophils shift metabolically toward enhanced OXPHOS and partially reduced glycolysis. This shift is driven by PDHA1 hyperactivity‐dependent selective metabolic reprogramming. The neutrophil‐targeted nanoparticle 3‑FP‑BSA NPs effectively inhibit NETosis and attenuate ALI.

Understanding the Role of Anaerobic Respiration in Burkholderia Thailandensis and B. pseudomallei Survival and Virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Burkholderia pseudomallei is the causative agent of melioidosis, a disease endemic in Northern Australia and Southeast Asia. Melioidosis can present with acute, chronic and latent infections and can relapse several months or years after initial ...

Ischemic Postconditioning Protects Aged Myocardium Against Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury by Regulating Mitochondrial Dynamics via piR‐4913

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A tiny RNA tips the scales of cardiac injury in aging. piR‐4913 recruits OGT to Drp1 and drives its O‐GlcNAcylation at Thr604, promoting excessive mitochondrial fission that aggravates ischemia‐reperfusion injury. Ischemic postconditioning silences this pathway to restore mitochondrial balance and protect the aged myocardium, revealing piR‐4913 as a ...

Anaerobic digestion foaming causes – A review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Anaerobic digestion foaming has been encountered in several sewage treatment plants in the UK. Foaming has raised major concerns for the water companies due to significant impacts on process efficiency and operational costs.

Radical Resection of the Third Portion of the Duodenum for Secondary Aortoduodenal Fistula

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Secondary aortoduodenal fistula most commonly involves the third portion of the duodenum and requires definitive management of both vascular and gastrointestinal components. We demonstrate a step‐by‐step technique for radical duodenal resection and reconstruction performed in structured collaboration with cardiovascular surgeons.

Mechanism of Intermittent Hypobaric Affecting the Postharvest Quality of Cassava Roots: An Integrated Analysis Based on Respiration, Energy Metabolism, and Transcriptomics

open access: yesHorticulturae
Intermittent Hypobaric Storage (IHS) effectively inhibits postharvest deterioration of cassava roots, yet its physiological regulatory mechanisms and associated quality alterations remain poorly understood.

Heat Stress and Gut Microbiome Dynamics in Poultry: Interplay, Consequences, and Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Anaerobic respiration dynamics in a eutrophic lake

open access: yes, 1997
Environmental redox potential was investigated in both a eutrophic lake and laboratory microcosms. Redox potential decreased rapidly during the onset of anoxia but slowly afterwards.
