Denitrification by fungi [PDF]
Many fungi in the centre of the group of Fusarium and its teleomorphs were shown to be capable of reducing nitrite anaerobically to form nitric oxide (NO), nitrous oxide (N2O), and/or dinitrogen (N2). Several strains could reduce nitrate as well. Nitrous oxide was the major product of the reduction of nitrate or nitrite.

DENITRIFICAITION is the reduction of nitrates to gaseous nitrogen, sometimes mixed with oxides of nitrogen: it is the only process which certainly causes a loss of nitrogen in nature, because the nitrogen gas escapes into the atmosphere. It is known that nitrite certainly, and probably hyponitrite, are formed as intermediates in the course of the ...

Denitrification in soil. II. Factors affecting denitrification
1. The factors affecting denitrification in soil have been studied by determining loss of nitrogen from soil under various conditions by total-N analysis.2. It was found that the rate of denitrification of nitrate in soil was dependent upon various factors such as the pH, temperature and water content of the soil and that, under conditions conducive to

Denitrification characteristics of a sulfur autotrophic denitrification reactor
The denitrification characteristics of a sulfur autotrophic denitrification reactor are investigated. The results show that domestication of sulfur autotrophic bacteria is completed within 15 days after biofilm formation in the reactor, which is shorter than other similar researches.
