High flow nasal therapy in perioperative medicine: from operating room to general ward

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2018
Background High flow nasal therapy (HFNT) is a technique in which humidified and heated gas is delivered to the airways through the nose via small nasal prongs at flows that are higher than the rates generally applied during conventional oxygen therapy ...

Senolytic Therapy as a Preventive Strategy for Spine Degeneration and Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cellular senescence promotes inflammation, tissue degeneration, and chronic back pain. In sparc‐null mice, early oral administration of the senolytic agents o‐vanillin and RG‐7112 reduced senescent cell burden and pro‐inflammatory SASP signaling across intervertebral discs, endplates, vertebral bone, and spinal cord.

Placebo effect of an inert gel on experimentally induced leg muscle pain. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Purpose: This study examined the therapeutic effects of an inert placebo gel on experimentally induced muscle pain in a sports therapy setting. It aimed to investigate the degree to which conditioned analgesia, coupled with an expectation of intervention,

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Multi‐Omics Profiling Reveals Immunomodulatory and Pro‐Regenerative Effects of a Graphene Oxide–Collagen Scaffold in Massive Rotator Cuff Tears

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A graphene oxide/collagen scaffold is developed for chronic massive rotator cuff tear repair. The scaffold improves compressive stability, supports reparative mesenchymal differentiation, and modulates the immune microenvironment. In chronic MRCT models, it reduces muscle degeneration, enhances tendon–bone regeneration, and improves functional recovery,

An Implantable Optogenetics‐Engineered Hydrogel for Amelioration of Rheumatoid Arthritis through Light‐Controlled Metabolic Reprogramming of Synovial Macrophages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An implantable hydrogel is designed to enable in situ and on‐demand secretion of GLP‐1 in synovium through blue light irradiation to activate GLP‐1R/HK2/VDAC1 pathway for upregulating tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation in macrophage, facilitating tissue repair and bone erosion recovery.

The Addition of Morphine Prolongs Fentanyl-Bupivacaine Spinal Analgesia for the Relief of Labor Pain

open access: yes, 2009
The combination intrathecal fentanyl (25 mug) and bupivacaine (2.5 mg) provides effective labor analgesia for approximately 90 minutes. The purpose of this prospective, randomized, double-blinded investigation was to determine if the addition of morphine
