A compact analog-to-digital converter (ADC) system suitable for high-resolution gamma-ray detectors has been developed around the Burr Brown PCM78P 16-b audio ADC. An associated application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), handling four ADCs, provides sliding scale circuitry, lower threshold adjustment, channel number identification, and zero ...

Embedded Analog-to-Digital Converters
2009 Proceedings of the European Solid State Device Research Conference, 2009Systems-on-Chips (SoCs) have become a reality in the past decade. Several dozens of different functional blocks are being integrated on a single die, reaching transistor counts of up to half a billion. From the Analog portion of an SoC the Data Converters are probably among the most challenging blocks, often limiting system performance and dominating ...

This chapter looks at the analog to digital conversion (ADC) capability of the MSP430 [1–3]. ADCs allow embedded computers to convert analog voltages into digital values so that they can be monitored in real-time and trigger responses. The MSP430FR2355 contains a 12-bit ADC core that can perform conversions on up to 16 user-selected inputs.

Photonic analog-to-digital converters
2014 XXXIth URSI General Assembly and Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS), 2014Photonic analog-to-digital conversion technology is considered a promising option to extend the performance of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to new levels by eliminating the bottleneck of aperture jitter. In this work, we review some important approaches to photonic ADCs and review recent developments in the field.

Time-interleaved Analog-to-Digital Converters
2011This book describes the research carried out by our PhD student Simon Louwsma at the University of Twente, The Netherlands in the field of high-speed Analogto- Digital (AD) converters. AD converters are crucial circuits for modern systems where information is stored or processed in digital form.

Evaluating analog-to-digital converters
SIMULATION, 1975Dynamic performance of an A/D converter cannot be assessed by conventional tests since they employ slowly varying inputs. In this paper, a digital computer procedure is developed to determine the presence and extent of errors due to time jitter, nonlinearity, gain, quantization, and locked bits.

An Analog-to-Digital Converter
2021The Raspberry Pi, unlike some of its competitors, does not offer true analog I/O. Analog input is particularly interesting, as IoT projects often need to monitor things that produce analog signals. In this chapter, we’ll produce a device library for an analog-to-digital converter, or ADC.

Emerging analog-to-digital converters
ESSCIRC 2014 - 40th European Solid State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC), 2014Many analog IC designers and students are naturally drawn to ADCs. While some ADC realizations have had a lasting impact including pipelined ADCs with digital redundancy, flash ADCs with folding and interpolation, and multi-bit delta-sigma modulators with dynamic element matching, there are many more recent and emerging ADC design techniques that are ...

Superconductor analog-to-digital converters
Proceedings of the IEEE, 2004Ultrafast switching speed, low power, natural quantization of magnetic flux, quantum accuracy, and low noise of cryogenic superconductor circuits enable fast and accurate data conversion between the analog and digital domains. Based on rapid single-flux quantum (RSFQ) logic, these integrated circuits are capable of achieving performance levels ...
