Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Distortional influence of pallet rack uprights subject to combined compression and bending [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A pallet rack is a structure in which the beams and uprights are cold-formed steel sections. The beam-upright connections are normally clipped in order to select the beam levels required and for ease of assembly.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Aerodynamic analysis of compliant journal foil bearings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis provides a detailed study about the aerodynamic analysis of compliant journal foil bearings. In high speed turbomachinery elements, conventional bearings can’t be used since at such a high speed (50000-80000) rpm these bearings get worn and ...

Degradation analysis of concrete bridge load-bearing capacity based on crack distribution

open access: yesJournal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development (English Edition)
In-service reinforced concrete bridges, following prolonged operational periods, frequently undergo alterations in structural integrity and significant deterioration of material properties. As a result, it becomes imperative to evaluate and analyze these bridge structures.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Effect of a surface tension imbalance on a partly submerged cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We perform a static analysis of a circular cylinder that forms a barrier between surfactant-laden and surfactant-free portions of a liquid$-$gas interface.

Influence of construction method on the load bearing capacity of skew masonry arches

open access: yesEngineering structures, 2018
This paper investigates the influence of construction method (e.g. false skew, helicoidal and logarithmic method) on the mechanical behaviour and load carrying capacity of single span skew masonry arches.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Evaluation of the stiffness modulus of bituminous mixtures using laboratory tests (NAT) validate by field back-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper concerns the evaluation of the stiffness modulus of bituminous mixtures by using the Nottingham Asphalt Tester (NAT). On the basis of indirect tensile laboratory test results, a practical model for stiffness modulus prediction in pavement ...
