Analysis and solutions to the stable roommate problem: An examination of complexity, stability, and matching algorithms

open access: yes, 2023
Roommate issues with strong preferences are defined here. An extension of the Stable Marriage Problem that does not include two partners is the Stable Roommates Problem, or SR. The complexity and approximability of the problem of computing an egalitarian stable matching in instances of d-SRI.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Role of New Kernel Function in Complexity Analysis of an Interior Point Algorithm for Semi definite Linear Complementarity Problem

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
In this paper, we introduce a new kernel function which differs from previous functions, and play an important role for generating a new design of primal-dual interior point algorithms for semidefinite linear complementarity problem. Its properties, allow us a great simplicity for the analysis of interior-point method, therefore the complexity of large-

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Benefits of a population: five mechanisms that advantage population-based algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper identifies five distinct mechanisms by which a population-based algorithm might have an advantage over a solo-search algorithm in classical optimization. These mechanisms are illustrated through a number of toy problems.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Multivariate Algorithmics for Finding Cohesive Subnetworks

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2016
Community detection is an important task in the analysis of biological, social or technical networks. We survey different models of cohesive graphs, commonly referred to as clique relaxations, that are used in the detection of network communities.

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial
