On the Bivariate Spectral Homotopy Analysis Method Approach for Solving Nonlinear Evolution Partial Differential Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
This paper presents a new application of the homotopy analysis method (HAM) for solving evolution equations described in terms of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs).

Identification of Putative Cellulose Synthase Gene xcsA2 Required for c‐di‐GMP‐Induced Biofilm Formation and Cell Aggregation in Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Synechococcus elongatus PCC 7942 is a widely used model cyanobacterium for diverse research fields and for bioproduction applications owing to its ease of cultivation, genetic modification, and ability to fix CO2. We found that a laboratory strain of S. elongatus PCC 7942 expressing the ydeH gene from E.

Flocculation using selected cationic polymers reduces high‐risk host cell proteins in monoclonal antibody processes already during primary recovery

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Flocculation using cationic polymers leads to the creation of large floc complexes. Negative charged species like cells, cell debris, and negatively charged host cell impurities like host cell DNA and host cell proteins are trapped within the complex while the positively charged monoclonal antibody stays in solution.

Electrospun Porous Materials for the Next‐Generation Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells: Progress, Challenges, and AI‐Optimized Perspectives

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Incorporating AI to optimize solution, process, and environment enables efficient prediction of structural properties and performance, allowing tailoring of GDL, CL, and PEM fabrication to guide PEMFC toward 9.0 kW L‒1 by 2040. ABSTRACT The performance and commercial viability of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are constrained by key ...

A Partial Integral Equation (PIE) representation of coupled linear PDEs and scalable stability analysis using LMIs

open access: yesat - Automatisierungstechnik, 2018
We present a new Partial Integral Equation (PIE) representation of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) in which it is possible to use convex optimization to perform stability analysis with little or no conservatism.

Application of dynamic modelling and model‐based predictive control to enhance a cooling tower

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Model predictive control (MPC) applied to improve the operation of cooling towers. Abstract Model predictive control (MPC) differs from traditional feedback control by making predictions within a time horizon, providing better control actions for the process.

Coupled heat and mass transfer in reactive parallel‐plate flow: A perturbative Graetz model with modal symmetry and Arrhenius kinetics

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
A perturbative Graetz model describes coupled heat and mass transfer in reactive Couette–Poiseuille flow between parallel plates. Viscous dissipation and heat of reaction produce a small temperature rise, which enhances Arrhenius reaction rates and modestly accelerates axial species conversion in the small‐Brinkman‐number regime.

On Spectral Properties of Certain Semiregular Systems of PDEs with Polynomial Coefficients [PDF]

open access: yes
This chapter is a survey of some recent results obtained with Marcello Malagutti, concerning asymptotic properties and semi-clustering properties of certain systems of PDEs with polynomial coefficients that contain, as particular examples, some models ...
