Leonhard Euler's “principle of mechanics” (an essay on the foundations of the equations of motion)
Leonhard Euler derived equations of motion for both (in modern terminology) point mass mechanics and analytic mechanics. In order to derive the equations, some dynamic premise has to be introduced; this is the “principle of mechanics”.

Sandwich Results for Holomorphic Functions Related to an Integral Operator
In this paper, we introduce a new logarithmic integral operator that unifies differentiation and fractional integration within the complex domain. The present work addresses this gap by applying the proposed operator to analytic functions represented by ...

Thermal bootstrap of matrix quantum mechanics
We implement a bootstrap method that combines stationary state conditions, thermal inequalities, and semidefinite relaxations of matrix logarithm in the ungauged one-matrix quantum mechanics, at finite rank N as well as in the large N limit, and ...

Albeit laboratory experiments and numerical simulations have proven themselves successful in enhancing our understanding of long-living large-scale flow structures in horizontally extended Rayleigh–Bénard convection, some discrepancies with respect to ...

Applications of the vortex-surface field to flow visualization, modelling and simulation
We review the progress on the applications of the vortex-surface field (VSF). The VSF isosurface is a vortex surface consisting of vortex lines. Based on the generalized Helmholtz theorem, the VSF isosurfaces of the same threshold at different times have

Unsteady flow behaviour of multi-rotors in ground proximity
The unsteady flow behaviour of two side-by-side rotors in ground proximity is experimentally investigated. The rotors induce a velocity distribution interacting with the ground causing the radial expansion of the rotor wakes.

Shaping liquid films by dielectrophoresis
We present a theoretical model and experimental demonstration of thin liquid film deformations due to a dielectric force distribution established by surface electrodes. We model the spatial electric field produced by a pair of parallel electrodes and use

Solidity effects on the performance of vertical-axis wind turbines
The variety of configurations for vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWTs) make the development of universal scaling relationships for even basic performance parameters difficult.

Analytic continuation of stochastic mechanics [PDF]
We study a (relativistic) Wiener process on a complexified (pseudo-)Riemannian manifold. Using Nelson’s stochastic quantization procedure, we derive three equivalent descriptions for this problem. If the process has a purely real quadratic variation, we obtain the one-sided Wiener process that is encountered in the theory of Brownian motion.
