Deconvolution‐based distortion correction of EPI using analytic single‐voxel point‐spread functions
PurposeTo develop a postprocessing algorithm that corrects geometric distortions due to spatial variations of the static magnetic field amplitude, B0, and effects from relaxation during signal acquisition in EPI.Theory and MethodsAn analytic, complex ...

On the structure of the fiber cone of ideals with analytic spread one
For a given a local ring (A,m), we study the fiber cone of ideals in A with analytic spread one. In this case, the fiber cone has a structure as a module over its Noether normalization which is a polynomial ring in one variable over the residue field ...

New analytic approximations for pricing spread options
We propose new analytic approximations for the pricing of spread options. A spread option is an option whose payoff depends on the price spread between two underlying assets. Let S1(t) and S2(t) be the prices of the two assets.

On ?Analytical models for the patchy spread of plant disease?
Bulletin of Mathematical Biology, 2004Epidemiologists are interested in using models that incorporate the effects of clustering in the spatial pattern of disease on epidemic dynamics. Bolker (1999, Bull. Math. Biol. 61, 849-874) has developed an approach to study such models based on a moment closure assumption.

Codimension and analytic spread
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1972In this paper, I shall establish the sufficiency of certain conditions on an ideal A of a local ring Q, and on a set {g1 …,gk} of elements of Q generating a proper ideal G, for the ideals A and G to be analytically disjoint. Hence I shall establish an upper bound for the analytic spread of A.The maximal ideal of Q will be denoted throughout by M, and ...

SpreadViz: Analytics and Visualization of Spreading Processes in Social Networks
2016 IEEE 16th International Conference on Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW), 2016In this paper, we propose SpreadViz, a web tool for exploration and visualization of spreading processes in social networks. SpreadViz consists of three main modules, namely graph exploration and analytics, detection of influential nodes, and interactive visualization.

Analytical representations of the spread harmonic measure density
Physical Review E, 2015We study the spread harmonic measure that characterizes the spatial distribution of reaction events on a partially reactive surface. For Euclidean domains in which Brownian motion can be split into independent lateral and transverse displacements, we derive analytical formulas for the spread harmonic measure density and analyze its asymptotic behavior.

Analytic beam spread function for ocean optics applications
Applied Optics, 2002A discrete ordinates code is developed with which to compute the beam spread function (BSF) without invoking the small-angle scattering approximation or performing Monte Carlo calculations. The computed BSF is used to predict the response of a detector versus its distance to the origin of a highly collimated beam, its angle with respect to the beam ...

An experimental and analytical investigation of canyon fire spread
Combustion and Flame, 2020Abstract This work investigates the fire line evolution in canyon fire spread by analytical and experimental means. The purpose is to understand the mechanism of fire spread acceleration associated with eruptive fire in canyon terrain. A symmetrical model canyon is used for experiments, and in each test the fire is initiated by a point ignition using

Towards an analytic model of epidemic spreading in heterogeneous systems
The Fourth International Conference on Heterogeneous Networking for Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness & Workshops, 2007Mathematical models have been utilized to help understand the epidemic spreading of malicious codes (e.g., computer virus and worms). However, existing such models are either adapted from the ones developed to capture the epidemic spreading of biologically infectious diseases in homogeneous systems, or suitable only for a very specific class of ...
