Bistability in Interstellar Gas-Phase Chemistry [PDF]
We present an analysis of "bistability" in gas-phase chemical models of dark interstellar clouds. We identify the chemical mechanisms that allow high- and low-ionization solutions to the chemical rate-equations to coexist. We derive simple analytic scaling relations for the gas densities and ionization rates for which the chemistry becomes bistable. We

Universal model for exoergic bimolecular reactions and inelastic processes [PDF]
From a rigorous multichannel quantum-defect formulation of bimolecular processes, we derive a fully quantal and analytic model for the total rate of exoergic bimolecular reactions and/or inelastic processes that is applicable over a wide range of temperatures including the ultracold regime.

Ab-initio non-relativistic quantum electrodynamics: Bridging quantum chemistry and quantum optics from weak to strong coupling [PDF]
By applying the Born-Huang expansion, originally developed for coupled nucleus-electron systems, to the full nucleus-electron-photon Hamiltonian of non-relativistic quantum electrodynamics (QED) in the long-wavelength approximation, we deduce an exact set of coupled equations for electrons on photonic energy surfaces and the nuclei on the resulting ...

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Diphthamide synthesis is linked to the eEF2‐client chaperone machinery
The diphthamide modification of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is important for accurate protein synthesis. We addressed the potential coordination of de novo eEF2 synthesis with simultaneous or subsequent diphthamide modification. Our work reveals that the co‐chaperones Hgh1 and Cpr7, which are known to support folding of nascent ...

An incomplete taxonomy of self-assigned color specialties [PDF]
Every discipline in science or professional practice can be sub-divided into specialties and subspecialties. E.g., in medicine a doctor could indicate that their specialty is ophthalmology and their sub-specialty the retina, or in chemistry a specialty could be analytical chemistry and a sub-specialty spectroscopy. But, what are the specialties and sub-
