Simultaneous determination of antibiotics residues in edible fish muscle using eco-friendly SPE-UPLC-MS/MS: Occurrence, human dietary exposure and health risk assessment for consumer safety

open access: yesToxicology Reports, 2023
Occurrence of multi-class antibiotics in edible fish species from the Saudi market was investigated. A fast and sensitive UPLC-MS/MS method for simultaneous determination of selected fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides and macrolides in fish muscle was ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Greenness assessment of micellar spectrofluorometric approach for determination of Elagolix: application to dosage form, content uniformity and human plasma

open access: yesHeliyon, 2021
Ecological, sensitive, fast and economic approaches are the main aspects in quality control of pharmaceutical products. Elagolix (ELG) is an orally non-peptidic GnRH antagonist, recently approved drug by Food and drug administration in 2018 for treatment

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Development and validation of an eco-friendly HPLC–UV method for determination of atorvastatin and vitamin D3 in pure form and pharmaceutical formulation

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2023
Statin-associated muscle symptoms are considered as obvious adverse effects of prolonged statin therapy such as myopathy, myalgia, and rhabdomyolysis. These side effects are associated with vitamin D3 deficiency and can be adjusted by amendment of serum ...

Overview of the Greenness’ Metrics used to Evaluate Analytical Methods

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Analytical Chemistry
The main goal of Green Analytical Chemistry (GAC) is to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals and waste generation in analytical procedures without compromising method performance. Over the years, several metrics tools were introduced to measure the environmental impact and greenness of analytical procedures. In this context, this paper aims to present

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.
