Analytical model of progression of flank wear land width in drilling

open access: yes, 2019
In multipoint operations like drilling, cutting velocities and cutting-edge geometries vary along cutting lips so is the rate of progression of flank wear. Analytical evaluation of flank wear land width in the case of complex tools has received a limited

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Analytical study of the layered XY model with VCE method

open access: yes, 1999
Motivated by experiments on liquid-crystal films, we study the development of specific heat anomaly of finite layer system. With the VCE method, we introduce the strong surface interaction into the layered XY model and get the results of the forth-order ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Analytical-Numerical Model for Synchronous Homopolar Machines

open access: yes
Synchronous homopolar machines represent a viable solution for applications requiring a robust electro-mechanical conversion system. Their diffusion is hindered by the low power density and by their complex three-dimensional magnetic behavior which ...

Analysing Double Shearing Mechanism in Fiberglass Rock Bolting Systems: a Comprehensive Analytical Model and Numerical Simulation Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
An analytical method and numerical simulation were developed to investigate the shear performance of fiberglass rock bolts (20-tonne and 30-tonne) by conducting sixteen double-shearing tests with both clean and infilled shear interfaces.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Analytical method for perturbed frozen orbit around an asteroid in highly inhomogeneous gravitational fields

open access: yes, 2012
This article provides a method for finding initial conditions for perturbed frozen orbits around inhomogeneous fast rotating asteroids. These orbits can be used as reference trajectories in missions that require close inspection of any rigid body.
