Macromolecular conformation of chitosan in dilute solution: A new global hydrodynamic approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Chitosans of different molar masses were prepared by storing freshly prepared samples for up to 6 months at either 4, 25 or 40 °C. The weight-average molar masses, Mw and intrinsic viscosities, [η] were then measured using size exclusion chromatography

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Moisture exchange kinetics and temperature during the process of convective drying of thin flat wet materials

open access: yesВесці Нацыянальнай акадэміі навук Беларусі: Серыя фізіка-тэхнічных навук
The basic laws of drying kinetics of thin flat materials during the falling drying rate are outlined. A method for calculating the average integral temperature of wet material on the basis of the relative temperature coefficient of drying is presented ...

Analysis and verification of geometric nonlinear response in solid rocket motor grains using successive approximation method [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
To investigate the influence of geometric nonlinearity on the mechanical response of solid rocket motor (SRM) grains, this study proposes an analytical framework based on the successive approximation method, aiming to elucidate the nonlinear response ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

CGC/saturation approach: an impact-parameter dependent model for diffraction production in DIS

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
In the paper we discussed the evolution equations for diffractive production in the framework of CGC/saturation approach, and found the analytical solutions for several kinematic regions.

Modelling and design of a dual channel magnetorheological damper [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
© Cranfield UniversityA limitation with the current analytical models for predicting the performance of a magnetorheological (MR) damper is that they fail to capture the hysteretic variation of force versus velocity variation correctly.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...
