Effects of Daylength on Flowering, Growth, and CAM of Pineapple (Ananas comosus [L.] Merrill)

Botanical Gazette, 1979
The `Smooth Cayenne' pineapple is a quantitative short-day plant. Promotion of flowering does not require either a diurnal variation in temperature or temperatures below 25 C. Growth as total dry matter increased with daylength from 8 to 16 h, and Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) was operative over the same range. Leaf length and width increased over

Effect of Night Temperature on Flowering and Fruit Size in Pineapple (Ananas comosus [L.] Merrill)

Botanical Gazette, 1981
'Smooth Cayenne' pineapple plants grown in a greenhouse at between 25 and 30 C were transferred for 16 h nightly to dark rooms maintained at 15, 20, 25, and 30 C. Flowering was most rapid at a night temperature of 20 C and was slowest at 15 and 25 C. Flowering did not occur after 3 yr of growth at 30 C.

Phenolic profiles of pineapple fruits (Ananas comosus L. Merrill) Influence of the origin of suckers

2011
Phenolic profiles of three fruits collected from pineapple plants obtained by micropropagation (FM), somatic embryogenesis (FE) and suckers of old field (FR) were studied to evaluate the influence of plant cell culture on pineapple fruit quality. The isolation and identification of a range of polyphenol compounds by HPLC methods shows that: eleven ...

A study of retention of sugars in the process of clarification of pineapple juice (Ananas comosus, L. Merril) by micro- and ultra-filtration

Journal of Food Engineering, 2008
Abstract The aim of this work was to evaluate the loss of sugars (glucose, fructose and sucrose) in pineapple juice (Ananas comosus, L. Merril), Perola cv., hydrolyzed with commercial pectinase (Ultrazym 100G) alone and combined with a cellulase (Celluclast) as a pre-treatment, and after clarification by cross flow micro- and ultra-filtration, using ...
