Anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma

Child's Nervous System, 1997
A case of anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA) in a 9-year-old girl is reported. Histological features of PXAs are cellular pleomorphism of GFAP-positive cells, with intracytoplasmic lipidic vacuoles and a reticulin network, bizarre giant cells, low mitotic activity, and lack of necrosis and of endothelial vascular proliferations.

Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer

Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America, 2008
Anaplastic thyroid cancer is an uncommon, typically lethal malignancy of older adults with no effective systemic therapy. The mean survival time is usually less than 6 months from the time of diagnosis and, unfortunately, this outcome is not fundamentally altered by available treatments. Histologic tissue confirmation is recommended if the diagnosis is

Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma

Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology, 2020
Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is a rare but significant malignancy due to its high mortality rate. Rendering an accurate diagnosis is crucial given the prognostic implications and treatment ramifications. Based on the prognostic significance of the extent of invasion of the primary tumor, T staging for ATC changed in the most recent edition of the

Anaplastic pilocytic astrocytoma

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2014
This clinical series examines the presentation of three adult patients who were found to have de novo anaplastic pilocytic astrocytoma. Initial imaging demonstrated an intracranial mass with histological analysis diagnostic of pilocytic astrocytoma with anaplastic features including necrosis, marked nuclear pleomorphism and a very high mitotic rate ...

Six cases of a distinct, histologically anaplastic variant of mammary Paget's disease are described. Patients ranged in age from 40 to 85 years. All patients had scaling erythematous lesions confined to the nipple; none had palpable breast masses. Histologically, the lesions had features resembling Bowen's disease, including full-thickness epidermal ...

Metastatic anaplastic oligodendroglioma

Neurology, 1989
We report 7 patients, ages 21 to 49 years, with systemic metastasis from anaplastic oligodendroglioma. Metastases developed in the scalp, cervical lymph nodes, bone, and other organs 1 to 76 months after the most recent surgery and 18 to 86 months after diagnosis. Systemic metastases responded to focal radiotherapy or nitrosourea-based chemotherapy for

Anaplastic thyroid cancer

Current Opinion in Oncology, 2003
Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma is one of the most aggressive malignancies, with a poor prognosis. Although rare, representing only 2% of clinically recognized thyroid cancers, the overall median survival is limited to months. Most patients are elderly and seek treatment with a rapidly growing mass.
