Comparative Efficacy of Metabolic/Bariatric Surgery Versus GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists: A Network Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study compared the efficacy of metabolic/bariatric surgery (MBS) and GLP‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs), including dual GLP‐1/GIP analogues, for weight and metabolic outcomes in adults with obesity. Methods A network meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials compared MBS or GLP‐1 RAs versus lifestyle intervention in adults ...

Lymphatic topology reveals a novel intranodal lympho‐venous shunt

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding the lymphatic network is crucial for immunological research. Currently, a complete map of lymphatic drainage in mice is lacking. We present a detailed lymphatic system flow dynamic of two mouse strains with swollen lymph nodes (LNs), using region‐specific tracer injection and high‐resolution micro‐CT imaging to characterize LN ...

The Effect of Mechanical Loading on Sprouting Angiogenesis from Engineered Macro‐vessel Model

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A stretchable macro‐vessel model embedded in collagen is subjected to distinct mechanical loading profiles to study sprouting angiogenesis. Finite element analysis maps strain distributions, revealing that lateral stretch enhances sprouting and alignment, while longitudinal stretch inhibits it.

Impact of an ERAS‐Based Surgical Care Bundle Implementation for Preventing Anastomotic Leakage in Minimally Invasive Low Anterior Resection for Rectal Cancer: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Anastomotic leakage (AL) remains a severe complication after low anterior resection (LAR) for rectal cancer, despite advances in minimally invasive (MI) techniques. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a surgery‐focused care bundle, implemented on an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS)‐based perioperative protocol, on preventing AL and ...
