A Novel Intra‐Operative Irrigation‐Drainage System for Robot‐Assisted Thoracoscopic Esophagogastric Layered Anastomosis: Preliminary Practice and Short‐Term Clinical Outcomes

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 3, February 2026.
A novel irrigation‐drainage system was developed for fluent intrathoracic hand‐sewn layered anastomosis during robot‐assisted esophagectomy with improved operative efficiency and a satisfied anastomotic field. ABSTRACT Robot‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery facilitates the execution of intrathoracic hand‐sewn layered anastomosis during minimally invasive

Diagnosis of Anastomotic Leak

Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery, 2021
AbstractAnastomotic leaks after colorectal surgery is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Understanding the impact of anastomotic leaks and their risk factors can help the surgeon avoid any modifiable pitfalls. The diagnosis of an anastomotic leak can be elusive but can be discerned by the patient's global clinical assessment, adjunctive

Management of Acute Anastomotic Leaks

Clinics in Colon and Rectal Surgery, 2021
AbstractManagement of the acute anastomotic leak is complex and patient-specific. Clinically stable patients often benefit from a nonoperative approach utilizing antibiotics with or without percutaneous drainage. Clinically unstable patients or nonresponders to conservative management require operative intervention.

The esophageal anastomotic leak

The American Journal of Surgery, 1976
Sixty-three esophageal anastomoses were performed on adult patients with esophageal or gastric cancer. A total of thirteen anastomotic leaks occurred, resulting in death in seven patients and serious morbidity in an additional patients. Twelve patients had esophagocolostomy, with five anastomotic leaks.
