An anatomical model for streaming potentials in osteons
Journal of Biomechanics, 1984An anatomical model for streaming potentials in osteons is developed to characterize the electromechanical effect in bone. The model accounts for the microstructure of the osteon and is based upon first principles of electrochemistry, electrokinetics, continuum mechanics and fluid dynamics.

Anatomical modeling with computer-aided design
Computers and Biomedical Research, 1986Many industrial computer aided design (CAD) programs contain highly developed facilities that can be used to create and analyze three dimensional models of biological structures. In this paper we describe the use of one such program package for modeling the rat brain and a component thereof.

Anatomical model of the cochlea of the alligator lizard
Hearing Research, 1990The three-dimensional structure of the cochlea of the alligator lizard was examined and an anatomical model was constructed. Separate pieces of the model represent the cochlear duct and posterior branch of the eighth cranial nerve. These pieces fit together inside a transparent plastic piece that represents the bony capsule.

Anatomical and Physiological Models for Surgical Simulation
1999A considerable amount of effort has been aimed towards developing real-time deformable objects for surgical simulation, but very little work has been aimed towards including physiology within the soft tissue models. A simulator that links the structural and functional aspects of the human body would allow the user to develop a better understanding of ...

An anatomically oriented breast model for MRI
SPIE Proceedings, 2015Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the western world. In the breast cancer care-cycle, MRIis e.g. employed in lesion characterization and therapy assessment. Reading of a single three dimensional image or comparing a multitude of such images in a time series is a time consuming task.

A head model with anatomical structure for facial modelling and animation
2003In this dissertation, I describe a virtual head model with anatomical structure. The model is animated in a physical-based manner by use of muscle contractions that in turn cause skin deformations; the simulation is efficient enough to achieve real-time frame rates on current PC hardware.

Anatomical Accuracy in Medical 3D Modeling
2001In complex surgery, medical modeling has become an accepted tool for diagnosis, simulation and the planning of surgical interventions [1]. However, the question concerning the accuracy of the model, i.e. the equivalence between the model itself on the one hand and the original anatomical situation on the other hand, remains unanswererd in the current ...

Anatomically Accurate Individual Face Modeling
2003This paper presents a new 3D face model of a specific person constructed from the anatomical perspective. By exploiting the laser range data, a 3D facial mesh precisely representing the skin geometry is reconstructed. Based on the geometric facial mesh, we develop a deformable multi-layer skin model.
