The fossil record stays silent: Confusions and conundrums for hominin pelvis evolution
Abstract The evolution of the hominin pelvis is commonly modeled as a series of stages driven largely by the requirements of bipedal locomotion, reproduction, thermoregulation, and pelvic floor muscular support. These patterns are complicated by variation in canal dimensions in relationship with different changes in overall pelvic breadths. To quantify

RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) and RNA‐associated factors shape retroelement RNA fate by regulating RNA processing, translation, RNP assembly and remodeling, reverse transcription, nuclear trafficking, chromatin engagement, and RNA surveillance. These pathways balance productive retroviral replication or retrotransposon insertion with RNA decay ...

The Inka Khipu and Yupana: A Reply to Zen Vasconcellos and Rojas Gamarra (2026)
ABSTRACT A new analysis by Zen Vasconcellos and Rojas Gamarra offers a novel interpretation of the Inka devices used for calculating (yupana) and recording (khipu) numbers. ABSTRACT Low‐cost experiential modules are critical for democratizing biotechnology education, yet most undergraduates lack hands‐on experience with continuous‐culture bioreactor operations, which are fundamental to industrial bioprocessing. This study employed design‐based research across two iterative cycles (Fall 2024, n = 8; Fall 2025, n = 11) to ...

The first inventory of ants from the Xisha Islands of the South China Sea was compiled, revealing 21 species: 70% native and 30% exotic. Anthropogenic disturbance primarily drove exotic colonization, whereas island area showed weak positive effects on species richness. Most ants were omnivorous, with key mutualistic and seed‐dispersal roles.
