Market-based Control of Air-Conditioning Loads with Switching Constraints for Providing Ancillary Services

open access: yes, 2018
Air-conditioning loads (ACLs) are among the most promising demand side resources for their thermal storage capacity and fast response potential. This paper adopts the principle of market-based control (MBC) for the ACLs to participate in the ancillary ...

An examination of ongoing trends in airline ancillary revenues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The airline industry seems permanently embedded in producing thin margins and continuously combatting downward pressure on yields. To perpetuate the problem, the industry remains eclipsed with high cost structures and low barriers to entry.

Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Optimal Dispatch of Residential Photovoltaic Inverters Under Forecasting Uncertainties

open access: yes, 2014
Efforts to ensure reliable operation of existing low-voltage distribution systems with high photovoltaic (PV) generation have focused on the possibility of inverters providing ancillary services such as active power curtailment and reactive power ...

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Convoyed Sales and Damage Calculation in Patent-Infringement Litigation

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Property
This study focused on the lost sales of ancillary products or services (hereinafter, “ancillary products”) in damage calculation. The precedent and practice that excludes the lost sales of ancillary products from the application of Article 128 of the ...

A Market Assessment of Distributed Battery Energy Storage to Facilitate Higher Renewable Penetration in an Isolated Power System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Power systems with a high share of renewables require additional ancillary services to operate safely and reliably. System operators are introducing schemes to attract investment in technology which will provide ancillary services.
