Effects of Daylenth on Endogenous Gibberellins in Solanum andigena
Physiologia Plantarum, 1973AbstractWhen tritiated gibberellin A1 was fed to intact potato plants growing under different daylength conditions it was converted to a more polar acidic metabolite. The rate of metabolism was the same under both long and short day conditions.Attempts were made to obtain information about the possible sites within the cell where gibberellin metabolism

Effects of abscisic acid on the levels of endogenous gibberellin-like substances in Solanum andigena
Planta, 1973Treatment of young, fully expanded leaves of Solanum andigena with synthetic abscisic acid resulted in marked increases in gibberellin-like substances. Abscisic acid treatment caused increases in the gibberellin content of leaves excised from both short day and long day grown plants.

Effects of Daylength on Endogenous Gibberellins in Leaves of Solanum andigena
Physiologia Plantarum, 1973AbstractLess gibberellin‐like activity was detected in extracts of potato leaves under short day than under long day conditions. Significant decreases in gibberellin levels were detected after two short day cycles. Using thin‐layer chromatography coupled with several solvent systems and various bioassays, at least four zones of gibberellin‐like ...

Solanum tuberosum X S. andigena Hybrids and Their Importance in Potato Breeding
1973After a brief review of the pertinent literature, this chapter provides examples of hybrid varieties of the potato derived in Colombia after crossing clones of Solanum tuberosum with clones of S. andigena obtained from several countries. The varieties display hybrid vigor that is expressed in high yield and greater disease resistance, frost tolerance ...

The performance of progenies obtained by crossing Groups Andigena and Tuberosum of Solanum tuberosum
European Potato Journal, 1969In a field experiment, F1 progenies betweenAndigenas partially adapted to long days and aTuberosum variety outyielded F1 progenies betweenTuberosum varieties by, on average, 13%. ATuberosum progeny which involved the Continental parentAckersegen outyielded others involving only British parents.Andigena Tuberosum progenies outyielded the ...
