Data security of Android applications
Smartphones have become ubiquitous in our society. With a large number of users spending more time and sharing more personal data with these devices, it would be beneficial to gain some understanding of data security. This paper presents different security issues regarding applications of Android systems which are one of the most popular mobile ...

Race detection for Android applications
Proceedings of the 35th ACM SIGPLAN Conference on Programming Language Design and Implementation, 2014Programming environments for smartphones expose a concurrency model that combines multi-threading and asynchronous event-based dispatch. While this enables the development of efficient and feature-rich applications, unforeseen thread interleavings coupled with non-deterministic reorderings of asynchronous tasks can lead to subtle concurrency errors in ...

Statistical Deobfuscation of Android Applications
Proceedings of the 2016 ACM SIGSAC Conference on Computer and Communications Security, 2016This work presents a new approach for deobfuscating Android APKs based on probabilistic learning of large code bases (termed "Big Code"). The key idea is to learn a probabilistic model over thousands of non-obfuscated Android applications and to use this probabilistic model to deobfuscate new, unseen Android APKs.
