Andromonoecy in an Old World Papilionoid legume, Erophaca baetica
AbstractAndromonoecy (i.e. the occurrence on individual plants of hermaphroditic and male flowers) is a rare sexual system among the angiosperms, regarded by some authors as a transitional stage from hermaphroditism to monoecy. Having discovered the occurrence of andromonoecy in Erophaca baetica (a Mediterranean shrubby legume with two subspecies), a ...

A Conserved Mutation in an Ethylene Biosynthesis Enzyme Leads to Andromonoecy in Melons
Andromonoecy is a widespread sexual system in angiosperms characterized by plants carrying both male and bisexual flowers. In melon, this sexual form is controlled by the identity of the alleles at the andromonoecious ( a ) locus. Cloning of the

Can andromonoecy explain low fruit : flower ratios in the Proteaceae?
There are several possible explanations for the low fruit: flower ratios commonly observed in the Australian Proteaceae—some proximate and others ultimate. One of these, namely that some flowers on a plant are functionally male (andromonoecy), has recently received considerable attention.

Andromonoecy and Floral Protandry of Oenanthe aquatica (Apiaceae)
The paper studies the synflorescence structure and flowering biology of the biennial monocarpic wetland plant Oenanthe aquatica. This species has a set of adaptations to prevent self-pollination, including generation of a pseudanthium, andromonoecy ...

Andromonoecy in Solanum marginatum
Solanum marginatum is andromonoecious, with long-styled hermaphrodite flowers and medium- or shortstyled female sterile flowers which produce fertile pollen. The morphology of the three floral types is compared. The female sterile type is determined prior to the stage at which the flower buds are visible.
