TRPM4 contributes to cell death in prostate cancer tumor spheroids, and to extravasation and metastasis in a zebrafish xenograft model system

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Transient receptor potential melastatin‐4 (TRPM4) is overexpressed in prostate cancer (PCa). Knockout of TRPM4 resulted in reduced PCa tumor spheroid size and decreased PCa tumor spheroid outgrowth. In addition, lack of TRPM4 increased cell death in PCa tumor spheroids.

Effects of Propofol or Isoflurane Anesthesia on Cardiac Conduction in Children Undergoing Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for Tachydysrhythmias

open access: yesAnesthesiology, 1995
Background To determine suitability for ablation procedures in children, two commonly used anesthetic agents were studied: propofol and isoflurane. Methods Twenty patients presenting for a radiofrequency catheter ablation procedure were included and ...

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Long-term outcome of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation catheter ablation with and without pulmonary vein dormant conduction after adenosine challenge

open access: yesBiomedical Papers, 2020
Objectives: The prognostic significance of adenosine-mediated pulmonary vein (PV) dormant conduction is unclear. We prospectively followed patients with adenosine-mediated PV reconduction with a subsequent repeated ablation until there was no ...

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

ARMYTHMIC ACTIVITY OF MYOCARDIUM AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF ANESTHESIA AND PERI-OPERATIVE PERIOD IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING CHOLECYSTECTOMY

open access: yesВестник анестезиологии и реаниматологии, 2019
Prevention of cardiovascular complications, which often result in fatal events in the peri-operative period, is one of the most crucial issues of modern anesthesiology. The objective: to investigate the changes in arrhythmic activity and conduction ...

Hysteresis in anesthesia and recovery: Experimental observation and dynamical mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The dynamical mechanism underlying the processes of anesthesia-induced loss of consciousness and recovery is key to gaining insights into the working of the nervous system. Previous experiments revealed an asymmetry between neural signals during the anesthesia and recovery processes.

Carotid Endarterectomy under Regional (Conductive) Anesthesia

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery, 1982
Carotid endarterectomy is reliable in the prevention of strokes due to arteriosclerotic disease at the carotid bifurcation. This is a retrospective review of 314 carotid endarterectomies performed at the University Health Center of Pittsburgh. The objectives of the study were to determine if regional anesthesia was a safe technique for carotid ...

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.
