Patient perception of consent processes for epidural analgesia in induction of labour: a qualitative study

open access: yesAnaesthesia, EarlyView.
Summary Introduction Women undergoing induction of labour often utilise epidural analgesia. Obtaining consent for labour epidural presents a unique challenge for the obstetric anaesthetist, who must comply with the legal standards of consent. This study explores how women perceive the consent process for epidural analgesia during induction of labour ...

Feto-Maternal Outcome of Labour with Epidural Analgesia

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research
Introduction: Epidural anesthesia along with an experienced anaesthetist, a dedicated obstetrician and a trained midwife has ability to convert the painful and extensively stressful labour labour event into a less stressful event.

Nerves and Anesthesia: A physics perspective on medicine [PDF]

open access: yesAnestezjologia i Ratownictwo 2014; 8: 252-263, 2014
We present a recent theory for nerve pulse propagation and anesthesia and argue that both nerve activity and the action of anesthetics can be understood on the basis of simple physical laws. It was found experimentally that biological membranes melt from a solid state to a liquid state just below physiological temperature. Such melting processes have a

External cephalic version in nonvertex second twin—Success rate, mode of delivery, and safety: A systematic review

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 584-590, April 2025.
This review provides updated knowledge on the external cephalic version in non‐vertex second twins. Although the results suggest that the procedure seems reasonable, the low quality of the studies, and more importantly, the lack of recent research, are significant limitations.

Rating of overall childbirth experience: A qualitative study of a quantitative measurement

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 658-665, April 2025.
Qualitative content analysis revealed heterogeneity in how women reason during the numeric rating of the overall childbirth experience. This was illustrated in one category reflecting different strategies women used when choosing a number, and another category representing various factors of the childbirth experience that women included in the final ...

The Modeling and Quantification of Rhythmic to Non-rhythmic Phenomenon in Electrocardiography during Anesthesia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Variations of instantaneous heart rate appears regularly oscillatory in deeper levels of anesthesia and less regular in lighter levels of anesthesia. It is impossible to observe this "rhythmic-to-non-rhythmic" phenomenon from raw electrocardiography waveform in current standard anesthesia monitors. To explore the possible clinical value, I proposed the

Frequency of fetal blood sampling, delivery mode and neonatal outcome after revised CTG‐classification and updated lactate meter in Sweden: An observational study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 676-684, April 2025.
Fetal blood sampling was less frequent after implementation of a revised CTG classification, and consequently, there was a higher proportion of acidemia at FBS in the smaller sampled group. Immediate cesarean delivery was more frequent after FBS, potentially caused by higher lactate readings achieved by a differently calibrated lactate meter.
