Clinical Care Guideline Implementation of Nebulized Tranexamic Acid in Post‐Tonsillectomy Hemorrhage

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
In our quality initiative, we demonstrated how clinical care guidelines can be used as a strategy to implement tranexamic acid treatment of post‐tonsillectomy hemorrhage. High rates of algorithm adherence were observed with an associated reduction in need for operative control of hemorrhage.

Evaluating The Effects Of Dexmedetomidine on the Quality of Pediatric Recovery Post-Inhalation Anesthesia

open access: yes
Inhalation agents are one common way to deliver anesthesia to children since they are often induced via mask inhalation before venous access is obtained. Delirious behavior and agitated states during emergence and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV)

Laparoscopic Methylene Blue Photodynamic Therapy for Intraabdominal Infection: A Preclinical Feasibility Study in a Rabbit Model of Perforated Appendicitis

open access: yesLasers in Surgery and Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Perforated appendicitis commonly results in intra‐abdominal infection requiring prolonged antibiotic therapy. Intraoperative antimicrobial adjuncts are limited, and photodynamic therapy (PDT) may provide a targeted, resistance‐independent approach.

Toward Free‐Breathing Renal CEST MRI: Preclinical Evaluation of a Novel Prospective Respiratory Triggering Approach

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Endogenous renal chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) imaging enables contrast‐agent‐free assessment of renal metabolism but is highly sensitive to respiratory motion. Existing approaches, such as timed breathing, require high patient compliance or preclinical mechanical ventilation, limiting clinical translation.

Analysis of Trajectories of Anxiety Behaviors During Induction of Anesthesia in Children With Multiple Encounters: A Secondary Analysis of a Multicenter Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Preoperative anxiety is a significant stressor for children and is associated with negative postoperative outcomes. Although the incidence of difficult inductions during a single anesthetic encounter is well documented, the longitudinal trajectory of anxiety behaviors in children undergoing repeated anesthesia remains poorly ...

How Culture Enables Practice: Facilitators and Barriers to the Use of Total Intravenous Anesthesia in Pediatric Anesthesia

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) in children has gained popularity due to potential advantages, including decreased respiratory adverse events, postoperative nausea and vomiting, and emergence agitation. British Columbia Children's Hospital (BCCH) has a reputation for TIVA use, training, and advocacy, including intravenous ...
