Anesthetic Techniques in Poultry

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1986
Anesthesia may be required in various species of poultry to facilitate surgery, diagnostics, and research. Preanesthetic evaluation, careful anesthetic management, and proper supportive methods should be employed. Injectable regimens may be useful for some procedures, but inhalation methods are more appropriate for long periods of anesthesia ...

Anesthetic Techniques for Cystoscopy in Men

Journal of Urology, 1983
A double-blind parallel group study was done on 80 men undergoing cystoscopy for the first time to compare the sedative and amnesic properties of midazolam and diazepam, administered with and without meperidine as an adjunct to local anesthesia for cystoscopy. Patients tolerated cystoscopy better with intravenous sedation.

General Anesthetic Techniques in Ruminants

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1996
Sedation, anesthesia, protection of the airway during general anesthesia, and control of pain in the perioperative period are important considerations in the management of sheep, goats, and cattle. Though ruminants are classically considered farm animals and are often intended for the production of food and fiber, these species are used extensively in ...

A technique to anesthetize turtles with ether

Physiology & Behavior, 1991
A technique to anesthetize turtles with ether is presented, in which a plastic cannula is passed through the glottis into the trachea. This procedure avoids apnea and allows ether vapours obtained from a chamber to be introduced, by the animal respiratory movements or by means of a pump, into the animal lungs.

Regional Anesthetic Techniques

International Anesthesiology Clinics, 1994
Regional anesthesia has several distinct advantages over general anesthesia in the patient scheduled for ambulatory surgery. These include residual analgesia and a lower incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting. With appropriate choice of regional technique and local anesthetic drug, earlier ambulation and discharge are often possible.

A Novel Anesthetic Technique for PEVAR

Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2016
Percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair (PEVAR) continues to evolve. Device profiles continue to decline, further reducing the physiological insult of the procedure. Anesthesia, however, has not evolved with a large proportion of patients continuing to receive general anesthesia for their increasingly less invasive procedures.
