A technique to anesthetize turtles with ether
Physiology & Behavior, 1991A technique to anesthetize turtles with ether is presented, in which a plastic cannula is passed through the glottis into the trachea. This procedure avoids apnea and allows ether vapours obtained from a chamber to be introduced, by the animal respiratory movements or by means of a pump, into the animal lungs.

General Anesthetic Techniques in Ruminants
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, 1996Sedation, anesthesia, protection of the airway during general anesthesia, and control of pain in the perioperative period are important considerations in the management of sheep, goats, and cattle. Though ruminants are classically considered farm animals and are often intended for the production of food and fiber, these species are used extensively in ...

Anesthetic Techniques for Cystoscopy in Men
Journal of Urology, 1983A double-blind parallel group study was done on 80 men undergoing cystoscopy for the first time to compare the sedative and amnesic properties of midazolam and diazepam, administered with and without meperidine as an adjunct to local anesthesia for cystoscopy. Patients tolerated cystoscopy better with intravenous sedation.

Anesthetic techniques for pediatric thoracoscopy
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1995Since 1981, we have performed 68 thoracoscopic procedures in 62 patients aged 7 months to 21 years. We reviewed the anesthetic and ventilation strategy used for each procedure to determine which anesthetic strategies are safe and effective for particular children and conditions.Regional anesthesia with sedation was used for six procedures in 5 patients ...

A Novel Anesthetic Technique for PEVAR
Annals of Vascular Surgery, 2016Percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair (PEVAR) continues to evolve. Device profiles continue to decline, further reducing the physiological insult of the procedure. Anesthesia, however, has not evolved with a large proportion of patients continuing to receive general anesthesia for their increasingly less invasive procedures.

Anesthetic technique and cancer surgery outcomes
Current Opinion in Anaesthesiology, 2021Purpose of review Surgery remains integral to treating solid cancers. However, the surgical stress response, characterized by physiologic perturbation of the adrenergic, inflammatory, and immune systems, may promote procancerous pathways.

Origin of oncologic anesthetic techniques
Seminars in Surgical Oncology, 1990AbstractThe patient with cancer poses a challenge to the anesthesiologist for a variety of reasons including the effects of cancer (altered hemostasis, depressed immune response, and compromised airways), the effects of chemotherapy (malfunction of the myocardium, lungs, kidneys, and bone marrow; depression of pseudocholinesterase; and production of ...

Operative and Anesthetic Techniques
2018The medical and surgical management of anorectal disease represents a substantial portion of a typical colorectal surgery practice. A variety of diseases are encountered, ranging from the benign processes of hemorrhoidal and cryptoglandular fistula disease to a range of premalignant and neoplastic lesions of the anorectum. For many of these conditions,
