A rapid method for evaluating the behavioral effects of phencyclidine-like dissociative anesthetics in mice

Psychopharmacology, 1991
A simple and rapid method for detecting the behavioral effects of phencyclidine and related dissociative anesthetics is described. Dissociative anesthetics such as phencyclidine (PCP) and dizolcipine, which bind with high affinities at N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) coupled cation channels ("PCP receptors"), produced a dose-related increase in the ...

"Crime scene investigation" at an anesthetic cocktail party with atrioventricular dissociation.

Middle East journal of anaesthesiology, 2012
A healthy 21-year-old female patient received midazolam, propofol, fentanyl, rocuronium, nitrous oxide in oxygen, ranitidine, diclofenac, neostigmine and glycopyrrolate during the anesthetic process for elective knee arthroscopy and developed a complete AV dissociation with a P-wave frequency of 40 and a "small" QRS-complex frequency of 55 beats/min ...

Alpha-2 agonist dissociative anesthetic combinations in fallow deer (Cervus dama).

Journal of zoo and wildlife medicine : official publication of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, 2000
Three anesthetic protocols, each using an alpha-2 agonist sedative in combination with a dissociative anesthetic, were evaluated in 17 captive fallow deer (Cervus dama). The alpha-2 agonist was given first in two of the three protocols: 1) detomidine (0.1-0.2 mg/kg i.m.) followed by tiletamine-zolazepam (3.0-6.3 mg/kg i.m.) and 2) xylazine (0.6-0.9 mg ...

Ketamine HCl, a dissociative anesthetic for squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus).

Laboratory animal science, 1976
A series of 3 experiments performed in squirrel monkeys showed that ketamine HCl was satisfactory for chemical restraint at doses of less than 13 mg/kg. Doses of 25 mg/kg and above produced surgical anesthesia. When serial doses of ketamine HCl were given to squirrel monkeys at regular intervals, predictable anesthesia and recovery times were produced.
