Diverse Treatment Goals in Psoriatic Arthritis: Insights From Participants in the PARC Cohort
Objective The aim of this study was to examine patient‐reported treatment goals among individuals with psoriatic arthritis. Methods Participants in the Psoriatic Arthritis Research Consortium completed standardized assessments, including patient‐reported outcome (PROs) instruments, between 2017 and 2020.

A Branch and Bound method for the exact parameter identification of the PK/PD model for anesthetic drugs [PDF]
We address the problem of parameter identification for the standard pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) model for anesthetic drugs. Our main contribution is the development of a global optimization method that guarantees finding the parameters that minimize the one-step ahead prediction error.

Objective Promoting Resilience in Stress Management (PRISM) is a resilience coaching program designed for adolescents with chronic illness. We aimed to examine the perceived feasibility, acceptability, and appropriateness of PRISM among pediatric rheumatologists treating adolescents with chronic musculoskeletal pain and obtain recommendations for ...

Propofol inhibits the voltage-gated sodium channel NaChBac at multiple sites. [PDF]
Voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels are important targets of general anesthetics, including the intravenous anesthetic propofol. Electrophysiology studies on the prokaryotic NaV channel NaChBac have demonstrated that propofol promotes channel activation ...

The effect of anesthetics on carotenoid pigmentation and behavior in Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) [PDF]
Status of individual animals is often shown in pigmentation. For instance, stress responsiveness is associated with melanin-based pigmentation in vertebrates in general.

SNARE proteins as molecular masters of interneuronal communication [PDF]
In the beginning of the 20th century the groundbreaking work\ud of Ramon y Cajal firmly established the neuron doctrine, according to which neurons are the basic structural and functional units of the nervous system. Von Weldeyer coined the term “neuron”

As many patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) have chronic pain, understanding how to best assess and manage pain in IA is a priority. Comorbid depression is prevalent in adults with IA, affecting 15% to 39% of people. Although pain and depression are thought to be associated in IA, this concept is largely based on cross‐sectional data.

Nerves and Anesthesia: A physics perspective on medicine [PDF]
We present a recent theory for nerve pulse propagation and anesthesia and argue that both nerve activity and the action of anesthetics can be understood on the basis of simple physical laws. It was found experimentally that biological membranes melt from a solid state to a liquid state just below physiological temperature. Such melting processes have a

Slow Waves Analysis Pipeline for extracting the Features of the Bi-Modality from the Cerebral Cortex of Anesthetized Mice [PDF]
Cortical slow oscillations are an emergent property of the cortical network, a hallmark of low complexity brain states like sleep, and represent a default activity pattern. Here, we present a methodological approach for quantifying the spatial and temporal properties of this emergent activity.

Objective This study analyzed longitudinal trajectories of soluble Flt1 (sFlt1) levels, placenta growth factor (PlGF) levels, and sFlt1:PlGF ratios in a cohort of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Blood samples were collected (14–18, 24–26, 30–32, 34–36, and 38–40 weeks), stored at −80°C, and evaluated for serum levels ...
