Mixed Outcomes in Recombination Rates After Domestication: Revisiting Theory and Data

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The process of domestication has altered many phenotypes. Selection on these phenotypes has long been hypothesised to indirectly select for increases in the genome‐wide recombination rate. This hypothesis is potentially consistent with theory on the evolution of the recombination rate, but empirical support has been unclear. We review relevant

Comparative Analysis of the Tumour Mutational Burden in Erosive and Reticular Oral Lichen Planus

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease classified as an oral potentially malignant lesion. The erosive and reticular forms of OLP have the potential for malignant transformation, with no consistent data indicating that one form is more likely to undergo malignant transformation than the other.

Cancer Hallmarks Expression in Oral Leukoplakia: Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To assess the available evidence on the expression of hallmarks of cancer and oral leukoplakia (OL) malignant transformation probability, with the goal of identifying the earliest oncogenic molecular events participating in oral cancer carcinogenesis.

Induction of Synthetic Apomixis in Two Sorghum Hybrids Enables Seed Yield and Genotype Preservation Over Multiple Generations

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Induction of apomixis, or clonal reproduction through seed, could economise commercial hybrid seed production and enable smallholder farmers to save and sow hybrid seed. Here, we demonstrate the synthetic induction of apomixis in two sorghum hybrids and show that the clonal hybrid seed can be maintained across multiple seed generations.
