Pathogenesis of Dissecting Aneurysm [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1963
A group of 35 cases of dissecting aneurysm was studied both clinically and pathologically, in order to evaluate the role of alterations in the aortic wall in the pathogenesis of dissecting aneurysm. It was concluded that the commonly observed dilatation and hypertension promoted the initial tear by increasing the tension on the intima of the aorta. The

Familial aortic dissecting aneurysm [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 1989
A family is described in which nine members over two generations had an aortic dissecting aneurysm or aortic or arterial dilation at a young age. The family has been followed up since 1977 after the death of a second teenager from a kindred of 11. None of the patients had the Marfan syndrome or a history of systemic hypertension.

Aortic Dissection and Dissecting Aortic Aneurysms

open access: yesAnnals of Surgery, 1988
Operation was employed in the treatment of 546 patients for complications of aortic dissection during the 32-year period of 1956-1988. Current concepts and operative techniques evolved during this period. Fortunately, about half the patients were treated during the latter 4 years, as modern therapy became standardized.

Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm and Dissection

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2014
Aortic dissection is the most devastating complication of thoracic aortic disease. In the more than 250 years since thoracic aortic dissection was first described, much has been learned about diseases of the thoracic aorta. In this review, we describe normal thoracic aortic size; risk factors for dissection, including genetic and inflammatory ...

Dacron graft aneurysm with dissection

open access: yesIndian Journal of Radiology and Imaging, 2016
AbstractDacron grafts have been used as a conduit for large caliber arteries for many years successfully. However, these grafts can undergo complications such as aneurysm formation, rupture, and failure. Evaluation of these complications are of paramount importance because of its tendency to rupture and cause death.

Dissecting Aneurysms [PDF]

open access: yesInterventional Neuroradiology, 2003
The initial event of dissection of a cervico-cephalic artery is disruption of the intima and internal elastic lamina of the arterial wall, either by trauma or haemodynamic stress. Pulsatile arterial flow extends this tear longitudinally further into the media, even to subadventitial layer.
