In this article we review renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs) from cases in the world literature and 60 cases from our own institution. We also analyze the role and the place of the various imaging techniques in the detection and diagnosis of AMLs. Discussion is focused on the natural history of this benign neoplasm as an isolated form or as a part of the ...

Angiomyolipoma of the liver is an extremely rare neoplasm, the number of reported cases of this disease is only about 600 worldwide. Morphological criteria for neoplasm verification present difficulties due to low occurrence and complexity of differential diagnostic search. In this regard, this observation is of interest to pathologists and physicians.

Abstract What's known on the subject? and What does the study add? Renal angiomyolipomas (AMLs) were first described in 1900 by Grawitz when he published a description of a large renal tumour composed of fat, muscle and blood vessels.

AbstractRenal angiomyolipomas are generally benign tumors which are composed of smooth muscle, fat, and blood vessels. Classically these have been diagnosed with the use of arteriograms; however, since ultrasound and CAT scans have come into use these now are the common modalities for diagnosis.

We present a rare case of angiomyolipoma of the tongue in a 23-year-old man. The clinical appearance was of a small, solitary, well-demarcated, painless mass. The oral angiomyolipoma followed a benign course with no recurrence after excision.

AbstractA case of angiomyolipoma found in the subgaleal lesion is reported. Lipoma appearing between the galea and periosteum of the frontal bone is called subgaleal or subfascial lipoma and usually consists histopathologically of mature fat cells. We experienced a case of so‐called subgaleal lipoma; however, the distinctive histologic features of our ...

Twelve cases of primary angiomyolipoma of the liver are presented. Histologically the tumors were similar to renal angiomyolipomas, containing tortuous blood vessels, smooth muscle, and fat. Some also contained prominent hematopoietic elements (angiomyomyelo-lipomas).

Extrarenal angiomyolipomas are rare lesions. An angiomyolipoma located on the right ear lobe in a 49‐year‐old man is reported. Pathologic examination showed a well‐circumscribed subcutaneous nodule, 2 cm in diameter. The components of the tumor were confirmed by immunohistochemistry. Reactivity for HMB‐45 was negative.

Angiomyolipomas (AMLs) are hamartomatous lesions containing smooth muscle, vasculature and mature adipose tissue. AML occurs most frequently in the kidneys, with the liver being the second commonest site of involvement. Other localizations for AML are extremely rare and, to our knowledge, only six cases of AML of the nasal cavity have been reported to ...
