Balloon Angioplasty for Symptomatic Intracranial Artery Stenosis (BASIS): protocol of a prospective, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial

open access: yesStroke and Vascular Neurology
Background The superiority of balloon angioplasty plus aggressive medical management (AMM) to AMM alone for symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis (sICAS) on efficacy and safety profiles still lacks evidence from randomised controlled trials (RCTs).Aim

PCI IN PATIENT WITH HEAVY CALCIFIED LESION. MANAGEMENT AND BALLOON RUPTURE COMPLICATION

open access: yesFolia Medica Indonesiana, 2016
Balloon angioplasty in calcified coronary lesions may have a decreased success rate and an increased incidence of complications. This lesion remain a technical challenge in interventional cardiology despite novel approaches and devices.

Importance of balloon size in coronary angioplasty

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 1989
The effect of balloon size on the success of coronary angioplasty was studied to develop quantitative criteria for optimal selection of balloon size. Coronary dimensions of 165 stenotic lesions were measured by computer-assisted cinevideodensitometry in 120 patients who had undergone angioplasty with a balloon selected by visual estimates.

Low-Dose Paclitaxel–Coated Versus Uncoated Percutaneous Transluminal Balloon Angioplasty for Femoropopliteal Peripheral Artery Disease

open access: yesCirculation, 2017
Background: Numerous studies have reported favorable outcomes using drug-coated balloons (DCBs) for treatment of symptomatic peripheral artery disease of the superficial femoral and popliteal arteries.

Far‐infrared irradiation attenuates platelet‐derived growth factor‐stimulated vascular smooth muscle cell migration through protein phosphatase 2A‐mediated Akt inhibition

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
FIR irradiation enhances the physical association between Akt and PP2Ac in VSMCs, independent of the hyperthermal effect of FIR rays. The increased binding between Akt and PP2Ac induced by FIR irradiation facilitates the dephosphorylation of Akt at Ser473.

Safety of balloon angioplasty for symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2019
Objective A recent randomized controlled trial suggested that aggressive medical management was superior to angioplasty for symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis. But it still had its flaws.

Clinical impact and risk stratification of balloon angioplasty for femoropopliteal disease in nitinol stenting era: Retrospective multicenter study using propensity score matching analysis

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2016
Objective: Nitinol stenting could bring the better outcome in endovascular therapy for femoropopliteal disease. However, it might be expected that recent marked advances in both device technology and operator technique had led to improved efficacy of ...

Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty with Stent Implantation as a Treatment of Proximal Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2020
We present a case of a 67-year-old female with proximal chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), disqualified from pulmonary endarterectomy due to multiple comorbidities and high risk-to-benefit ratio as assessed by multidisciplinary CTEPH ...

SIroliMus coated angioPlasty versus plain balloon angioplasty in the tREatment of dialySis acceSs dysfunctION (IMPRESSION): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2021
Background Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty is the current standard treatment for arteriovenous fistula (AVF) stenosis. The mid- and long-term patency with plain balloon angioplasty (PBA) is however far from satisfactory.

Anisotropic microsphere-based approach to damage in soft fibered tissue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10237-011-0336-9An anisotropic damage model for soft fibered tissue is presented in this paper, using a multi-scale scheme and focusing on the directionally dependent behavior ...
