Patterns of ferns community assemblages in some Malaysian and Nigerian tropical forests

The study assessed the patterns of ferns species richness (SR) and phylogenetic diversity (PD) in relation to the bioclimatic drivers in some Nigerian and Malaysian forests. Fern species richness and diversity is significantly higher in Malaysian forests than in Nigerian forests.

1. The general internal structure of the stem of Angiopteris evecta consists of two main regions, the cortical and central vascular. The relatively thick cortex is traversed by leaf traces and roots. The central region consists of a vascular strand which appears crescent-shaped in cross-section and is imbedded in a central parenchyma tissue.
