On the security of Angle of Arrival estimation

2016 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS), 2016
Angle of Arrival (AoA) estimation has found its way to a wide range of applications. Much attention has been paid to study different techniques for AoA estimation and its applications for jamming suppression, however, security vulnerability issues of AoA estimation itself under hostile activity have not been paid the same attention.

Estimation of angles-of-arrival for wideband sources

ICASSP '84. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
High resolution direction of arrival estimation for multiple wideband sources is discussed in this paper. The proposed method involves two steps. Preliminary estimates of the angles are obtained via an eigendecomposition method such as MUSIC for several non-overlapping bands of frequency.

Estimation of angles of arrivals of broadband signals

ICASSP '87. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
A high resolution one-step algorithm for estimating the angles of arrivals of multiple wideband sources is proposed. For a dense and equally spaced array structure, a bilinear transformation is utilized in frequency domain for coherent signal subspace processing.

Angle–of–Arrival (AoA) Factorization in Multipath Channels

ICASSP 2021 - 2021 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2021
This paper considers the problem of estimating K angle of arrivals (AoA) using an array of M > K microphones. We assume the source signal is human voice, hence unknown to the receiver. Moreover, the signal components that arrive over K spatial paths are strongly correlated since they are delayed copies of the same source signal.

A simple technique for angle of arrival measurement

2008 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2008
A simple method to calculate the angle of arrival is presented in this paper. The advantages of this method are the unlimited number of the detected angle of arrival in hand and the fact that we donpsilat need to know the nature of the radiating sources in the other hand. However, some disadvantages have been seen.

Network localization using angle of arrival

2008 IEEE International Conference on Electro/Information Technology, 2008
In this paper, we propose two localization methods using angle of arrival (AoA) information. We assume that nodespsila axis orientations are unknown. Therefore, all AoA measurements are employed to calculate the angle differences of two different nodes viewed by the third one.

Evaluation of the angle of arrival based techniques

2013 8th IEEE Design and Test Symposium, 2013
In this work we present the angle of arrival estimation techniques and their comparison at different values of SNR using a 5 element UCA. The techniques that have been considered include phase interferometry, Multiple Signal Classification and covariance.

A New CLEAN Algorithm for Angle of Arrival Denoising

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2009
In a previous work, a novel technique for angle of arrival (AOA) measurement was proposed. This technique consists of sweeping the angular domain with one antenna, step by step, such that at each measurement step the received signal voltage at the rotating antenna (sensor) is measured.

A Method of Determining the Angle of Arrival

Journal of Applied Physics, 1948
A method is presented for determining the angle of arrival of the direct and reflected wave for line of sight cases. The method assumes one direct and one reflected wave. The phase difference equipment, as developed by the Electrical Engineering Research Laboratory, measures the difference in phase at 3.2-cm wave-length between two points separated ...

Joint Source and Sensor Localization by Angles of Arrival

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2020
Joint source and sensor localization (JSSL) attempts to simultaneously locate the multiple sources and sensors by exploiting the measurements between them. The research of JSSL has been based on time of arrival (TOA) measurements that require synchronization of the sources and sensors.
