Indoor positioning in 5G new radio: how it works, status quo of research, and the road ahead

open access: yesICT Express
In this paper, the architecture and mechanism of 5G New Radio indoor positioning schemes such as downlink time difference of arrival (DL-TDOA), uplink (UL) TDOA, multiple-cell round trip time (Multi-RTT), DL angle of departure, UL angle of arrival (AOA),

An Angle Recognition Algorithm for Tracking Moving Targets Using WiFi Signals with Adaptive Spatiotemporal Clustering

open access: yesSensors, 2021
An angle estimation algorithm for tracking indoor moving targets with WiFi is proposed. First, phase calibration and static path elimination are proposed and performed on the collected channel state information signals from different antennas.

Using Angle of Arrival for Improving Indoor Localization

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
In this paper, we primarily explore the improvement of single stream audio systems using Angle of Arrival calculations in both simulation and real life gathered data. We wanted to learn how to discern the direction of an audio source from gathered signal data to ultimately incorporate into a multi modal security system.

Performance Analysis for AOA-Based Localization Under Millimeter-Wave Wireless Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) communication is a promising solution for achieving high data rate and low latency in 5G wireless networks. Since directional beamforming and antenna arrays are exploited in the mmWave networks, accurate angle-of-arrival (AOA ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

The effectiveness of early lens extraction with intraocular lens implantation for the treatment of primary angle-closure glaucoma (EAGLE): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness. Although primary open-angle glaucoma is more common, primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) is more likely to result in irreversible blindness.

A Simple Cross Correlation Switched Beam System (XSBS) for Angle of Arrival Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
We propose a practical, simple and hardware friendly, yet novel and efficient, angle of arrival (AoA) estimation system. Our intuitive, two-phases cross-correlation-based system requires a switched beam antenna array with a single radio frequency ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
