Characterizing the Prevalence of Cam-Type Hip Impingement in Women’s Professional Ice Hockey Players

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2019
Objectives: Participation rates in women’s ice hockey is increasing in North America. Recent studies have demonstrated an increased prevalence of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) in elite male ice hockey players, yet little is known about hip pathology

Standard Radiographic Assessment of Femoral Cam Morphology is Influenced by Neck-Shaft Angle and Femoral Version

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2020
Objectives: Cam-type femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a three-dimensional (3D) deformity that is still difficult to assess using traditional two-dimensional (2D) radiographic views.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Prevalence of radiographic markers of femoroacetabular impingement in asymptomatic adults

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
OBJECTIVE: to determine the prevalence of radiographic signs of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) in asymptomatic adults and correlate them with data from physical examinations.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Prevalence of Cam Morphology in Females with Femoroacetabular Impingement

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2015
Cam and pincer are two common morphologies responsible for femoroacetabular impingement. Previous literature has reported that cam deformity is predominantly a male morphology, while being significantly less common in females.

The precision of ROTEM EXTEM is decreased in hypocoagulable blood: a prospective observational study

open access: yesThrombosis Journal, 2023
Background The use of viscoelastic tests is becoming increasingly popular. There is a paucity of validation of the reproducibility of varying coagulation states.

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Is beta angle the new alpha angle? Reliability and correlation with cartilage health in femoroacetabular impingement syndrome

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) syndrome is a common cause of hip pain in active young adults and a primary contributor to the future development of hip osteoarthritis. FAI morphology is characterised by abnormally shaped hip bones, which can
