Joint received signal strength, angle-of-arrival, and time-of-flight positioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents a software positioning framework that is able to jointly use measured values of three parameters: the received signal strength, the angle-of-arrival, and the time-of-flight of the wireless signals.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Indoor Positioning of Low-Cost Narrowband IoT Nodes: Evaluation of a TDoA Approach in a Retail Environment

open access: yesSensors, 2022
The localization of internet of things (IoT) nodes in indoor scenarios with strong multipath channel components is challenging. All methods using radio signals, such as received signal strength (RSS) or angle of arrival (AoA), are inherently prone to ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Angle of arrival Fluctuations for Laser Beam Propagation through non Kolmogorov turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Atmospheric turbulence induces significant variation on the angle-of-arrival of laser beams used in free space laser communication. Angle-of-arrival fluctuations of an optical wave in the plane of the receiver aperture can be described in terms of the ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Optimal Precoders for Tracking the AoD and AoA of a mm-Wave Path [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In millimeter-wave channels, most of the received energy is carried by a few paths. Traditional precoders sweep the angle-of-departure (AoD) and angle-of-arrival (AoA) space with directional precoders to identify directions with largest power.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

An Aerial Target Localization Method Using TOA and AOA Measurements with GEO-UAV Bistatic Configuration

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering
Based on multi-station spatial diversity capability, GEO-UAV distributed radar could achieve high-precision aerial target localization with the single-transmitting and multiple-receiving configuration. However, the actual observation area can hardly be
