On the Arrival Angle of Microwaves
1949This research describes a preliminary effort to measure the effect of the atmosphere on the refraction of microwaves. Variations in the structure of the lower atmosphere cause small changes in the index of refraction, and these small changes might alter the angle at which the wave front arrives at the receiver.

Angle-of-arrival fluctuations in a turbulent atmosphere
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of AmericaAtmospheric turbulence causes fluctuations in the angle-of-arrival (AOA) of sound waves. These fluctuations adversely affect the performance of sensor arrays used for source detection, ranging, and recognition. This article examines, from a theoretical perspective, the variance of the AOA fluctuations measured with two microphones.

Joint Source and Sensor Localization by Angles of Arrival
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2020Joint source and sensor localization (JSSL) attempts to simultaneously locate the multiple sources and sensors by exploiting the measurements between them. The research of JSSL has been based on time of arrival (TOA) measurements that require synchronization of the sources and sensors.

The angle of arrival (AOA) is the most valuable piece of information that can be obtained from an enemy radar because the radar cannot change its position drastically in a very short time frame (i.e., a few milliseconds). Unfortunately AOA information is also the most difficult information to obtain. It requires several antennas with receivers. The two

Angle-of-Arrival Estimation for UWB Signals Clustered in Angle
2006 1st International Symposium on Wireless Pervasive Computing, 2006In this study, the new signal model suitable for ultrawide band (UWB) environments with random angle spread is proposed to estimate the angle-of-arrivals (AOAs) of clusters in a UWB indoor or indoor-to-outdoor wireless communication. The estimation technique based MUSIC algorithm is investigated and the estimates of the AOA and distribution parameter ...

Measurement of Angle-of-Arrival
1969While a large number of different types of direction-finder for obtaining the bearings of radio signals have been developed, ranging from simple vertical loop antennas to very complicated systems such as the Wullenweber type in which a narrow beam is used to scan the incoming wave system, very few of them can be applied to the problem of measuring ...

On Angle-of-Arrival and Time-of-Arrival Statistics of Geometric Scattering Channels
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2009This paper proposes a hyperbolic distribution to model the distribution of random scatterers between a base station (BS) and the user equipment (UE) in multipath mobile environments. New hyperbolic angle-of-arrival (AoA) probability density function (pdf), power azimuth spectrum (PAS), time-of-arrival (ToA) pdf, and power delay spectrum (PDS) are ...
